Hayden Family

Gail Hayden started The Golden Pineapple's former sister store in 1977. The Fragrance Shop was a nice herb barn off the beaten path. In 1981 her husband, Perry, was diagnosed with cancer and was told he had 3 months to live, a year at best. This news inspired Perry to draw up the plans for The Golden Pineapple gift shop. He told Gail that he knew she could make it a success and that the store would help to provide for her & their 2 young children. Perry regained stregnth and together they built the store. We lost Perry in 2001 but the dream he dared to dream and his wife dared to do, went on. Gail, her daughter Wendy, her son Dave & Dave's wife Jacqui worked at The Golden Pineapple. They loved what they did and it showed.
In 2008, Dave & Jacqui moved to NC to get to become a history teacher. It was time for Gail to retire, so she did and is enjoying gardening again. Do to problems with brain cancer, I can not run the store alone, so we sold the store itself and I do it online only now.
We sold it to a nice family that is going to keep the building. It is a Duncan Donuts now. We chose them instead of the gas stations and other big things because they said they would keep the building.
Alot of fun times there. We will miss it. But change is good too.
